Flor de Cana absolutely, without doubt, the finest rums I have ever tasted. Stumbled upon it by chance in a bar in Costa Rica five, six years ago and haven't found better. Beginning to run low in supplies so another trip from Scotland beckons!

Best rum I've had is Don Rhon Gran Reserva V.S.G.R. from the Dominican. So smooth and so rich in flavour. Absolutly...wow!

By far the best rhum straight is ron zacapa 21 anos centenerio! My dad brought me 2 litres back from rome italy. I've been searching for this rhum for the past 2 years and I finally got to savor it with 2 close friends also rhum lovers. And this is by far the best rhum ! I tried to get this shipped to canada from anywhere but was always turned down because I lived in canada. So if you ever see a bottle, buy one! It is so worth it. I have a collection of over 50 rhums all dark rhums and this beats my flor di cana 18 and 21yrs and my elderados 12 and 15yrs. On ebay this bottle goes for about 180$ but I've seen it in florida for 42$ and my dad paid 70$ per litre in italy.

El Dorado 12/15y is the most flavourful rum I have tasted. I have tried varieties of Bacardi, Havana Club, Santiago de Cuba, Flor de Caña, Mount Gay, Appleton Estate, Myers', Angostura. I have heard that Venezuelan rums are worth trying, but have not found any on sale in Canada.
Tue. July 20, 2010 4:42 PM - by: Andrew
Eldorado 12, 15 and 21 year are by far the best lineup of rums that I have had.
Sat. July 17, 2010 11:54 PM - by: Horacio Rodrigues
Havana Club should most definitely be included on this list, and I mean the real Havana Club bottled in Cuba, not the fake Bacardi imitation product sold in the US

Flor de Caña is definitely the best rum. It should get the number 1 spot. I have tried al ages and no other rum in your lists beats them. Pure and simple, full of taste.

I second the comment on Flor de Cana. Over 42 awards in the last 5 years. Amazing stuff.
Wed. June 9, 2010 4:49 PM - by: jim jensen
i live in costa rica and own a bar on the beach.. i have traveled extensively in the carribean and sampled many rums. NICARAGUA has i think the best rum products made by FLOR DE CANA, they have 4,5,7,12,15 and 18 yr old stock. have you reviewed them?

Cruzan Single Barrel (10 Years) and Estate Diamond (5 years) Rums need to be on your list.
Sun. March 14, 2010 9:02 AM - by: JCMZ
How about Flor de Cana Rum from Nicaragua?!!! It is the most internationally awarded rum in the world. Perfect balance, colour, taste and aroma. Slowly aged to perfection from 1-25 years....comments...

Sun. December 6, 2009 12:00 PM - by: John LLoyd
Obviously there is a superior listing for Trinidad and Guyanese Rum! Or the people who have compiled this list have NO CLUE about good rum
Sat. August 15, 2009 12:00 PM - by: Bob
My favourite dark rum is Appleton Estates! Very smooth and reasonably priced.
Wed. August 12, 2009 12:00 PM - by: RT
Barcardi Reserva Limitada should be on this list -- delicious, but hard to get. Know of only two places it can be bought: Barcardi factory in San Juan and Barcardi's store in downtown Nassua. Last time I checked, they will not ship it. You have to go there to get it. Does anyone know where else it can be bought?
Wed. July 15, 2009 12:00 PM - by: C.Arthur Cabezas
I noticed that you did not mention the Rum of Nicaraqua Flor De Cana. I know that this Rum has been a front runner up with many awards for a top Rum 7 it also has Rum aged pass 25 years. Thanks Art.
Wed. July 1, 2009 12:00 PM - by: V. Nesbitt
Cavalier 5 Year Old (Antigua) and English Harbour 5 year Old (Antigua) are both superior to some of the ones on your list.

Mon. June 8, 2009 12:00 PM - by: Francois
This list does NOT include Ron Pampero Aniversario Reserva Exclusiva (Venezuela) or Neisson Rhum Reserve Speciale (Martinique)...two of the best in the world.....
Tue. June 2, 2009 12:00 PM - by: bogger
what a stupid list ... no Cuban brands ?????? is this the us-embargo or what's the reason for that ?? taste some matusalem or havana clubs "barrell proof" thats real rum !!!
Mon. May 18, 2009 12:00 PM - by: Neil
This list is absolutely ridiculous. Guyana's El Dorado rum has won more world titles than 80% of the brands listed here.
Wed. April 15, 2009 6:28 PM - by: Aileen Robbins
Suggested addition to the list: Pampero Ron Añejo (Venezuela), an elegant smooth aged rum which comes in a leather pouch.
Mon. February 9, 2009 6:28 PM - by: Alfredo Ubau
I've tried about 12 of these rum in your list and they are great but you do not have Rum Flor de Cana from Nicaragua. 18 yrs aged or 15 yrs aged or even the 7 yrs age. How come they did not make this list?
