RED TEA BOX Asian/English
A deceptively small shop fronts onto Queen Street West that lures in hungry shoppers with dozens of varieties of whimsical fondant cakes. These are best eaten in the coach house out back, decorated with mismatched antique furniture and floral prints that would appease the Mad Hatter. Afternoon tea is comprised of a variety of small dishes served in bento boxes, emphasizing the Asian twist on traditional English tea. Traditional cucumber sandwiches have been scrumptiously replaced by hollowed-out Cucumbers filled with Indian-spiced Chicken Salad, and other inventive often-changing fillings. The dessert compartments may include such delectable items as Chocolate Lavender Tarts and Green Tea Cheesecake. All are accompanied by an extensive list of fine estate teas. One thing is for certain– this isn’t your grandmother’s tea party. 696 Queen Street West (416) 203-8882

Sushi Inn in Yorkville. Amazing service, great quality seafood, outstanding prices and the sake is always hot. Not the fanciest but I've had a lot worse sushi for a lot bigger price tag.

Looking for a new Italian restaurant in Cabbagetown? Formerly the old Piccolo, Plum 226 has undergone renovations and now provides Cabbagetown with a fantastic casual fine dining expereince. Food and wine priced reasonably, entrees between $13-$30, wines by the glass between $7-$11 and bottles starting at $28. They also have a lounge hosting live music and entertainment, most free events - no cover. A great place to enjoy a relaxing or romantic dinner.

I have dined at Oro a few times. It is one of my favorite in the city. From the time you enter to the time you say "fare well", this establishment makes you feel "special." The food, the ambiance and the service is impeccable. Definitely a place that makes a lasting impression!

I have dined at Allen's only once, and will never go back - even though I live around the corner. The food was decent, however, the concierge quite was rude. Even after ordering a few rounds of drinks, appetizers and dinners, our table was asked to leave because we were there "too long" and the table was needed. We were there "just over an hour." We are middled aged people, not a rowdy bunch of kids! My table was not impressed.

Zin Restaurant @ Yorkville is a newly opened chinese cuisine. I have been there once and they have a very good wine selection plus very good food. I found them because I saw the review from Joanne Kates of the Global & Mail.

I was disappointed to see that Vanipha Lanna is not included in your list They have amazing food. I have mixed feelings about posting this comment because I like being able to go there without a reservation and I wouldn't want it to become too popular....
