The Big Apple
(Syrmise & The Liquid Chef)
The official unofficial cocktail of the Bloomberg Administration. Served for Mayor Bloomberg's events at Gracie Mansion.

 

Ingredients
2 oz Whiskey
.25 oz Daristi Xtabentun
.5 oz Grilled Apple Juice
.5 oz Cinnamon Essence
.75 oz fresh Lime Juice
3 dashes Junior Merino Roasted Apple & Toasted Spices Intensives (Bitters)

Garnish: Fresh Origins Apple Mint
Glass: Rocks
Ice: cubes

Instructions
Shake and strain ingredients over fresh ice.

The New Frontier

Ingredients
1.0 oz Half Moon Orchard Gin
2.0 oz Barrow's Intense Ginger Liqueur
2 oz Poland Spring Lemon Seltzer

Garnish: Mint Sprigs and Lime Wheels
Glass: Martini 7 oz.
Ice: cubes

Instructions
Combine Barrows and Half Moon in a punch bowl. Add lime wheels. Pour over ice in a martini glass. Add Poland Spring Lemon Selzer. Garnish with mint sprig.

  Spirit: Rum  

The Olive Blossom
(Shellback Caribbean Rum)

 

Ingredients
2.0 oz Shellback Silver Rum
.75 oz St. Germain
1 oz Pink Grapefruit Juice
.25 oz Simple Syrup
2 dashes Lavender Bitters

Garnish: Flower Bud
Glass: Martini 7 oz.
Ice: cubes

Instructions
Shake and double strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with edible orchid.

The Van Buren
(The Albany Distilling Company)
The cocktail is named for Martin Van Buren- the eighth President of the United States of America, who was born just outside of Albany. A take on the classic Caribbean rum cocktail, the "El Presidente".

 

Ingredients
2.0 oz Quackenbush Still House Original Albany Rum
.50 oz Carpano Antica
.25 oz Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao
.25 oz Homemade Caribbean Simple Syrup
.25 dash Bitter Truth Orange Bitters

Garnish: Orange Peel
Glass: Rocks
Ice: cubes

Instructions
Rum, Vermouth, and Curaçao are combined and aged in a used bourbon barrel for 1 month. The glass is filled with ice and 1-2 drops of bitters are added. The cocktail base and the simple syrup are combined over the ice and stirred. The drink is garnished with a flamed orange peel.

Tobacco Jane
(Widow Jane)
The Tobacco Jane is a take on a forgotten cocktail called the Suburban. It was created to pay homage to the great stable-owners of the Suburban Handicap that shared their disappointments and glories in the 1800's at Brooklyn's own Sheepshead Bay Race Track.

 

Ingredients
1 oz Widow Jane Bourbon
1 oz Angostura Rum
1 oz Delaforce Ruby Port
2 dashes Tobacco Bitters

Garnish: Orange Twist
Glass: Rocks
Ice: cubes

Instructions
Pour ingredients over ice. Stir. Serve.

Traveler's Testament
(Hendrick's Gin)
As a testament to the wonders of travel, the Traveler’s Testament refreshes the most worldly of travelers.

 

Ingredients
1.5 oz Hendrick's Gin
.75 oz Rooibos Tea
.5 oz Fresh squeezed Lime Juice
.75 oz Raspberry Syrup
1 tablespoon Toasted Coconut Flakes
1 Egg Whites

Garnish: Raspberry
Glass: Rocks
Ice: cubes

Instructions
Combine ingredients and shake very well, double strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Allow a raspberry or two for garnish.

Traveler's Testament

 

  Spirit: Gin  

Twitched Like a Fiddle String

Ingredients
1000 ml Half Moon Orchard Gin
3000 ml sparkling apple cider
White Balsamic Vinegar
applesauce
Demerara sugar
Basement Bitters

Garnish: lime pinwheels
Glass: highball
Ice: cubes

Instructions
Mix white balsamic with applesauce and Demerara sugar. Let stand for a week at room temperature. Strain and use the salubrious liquid as the base. Add the gin and the sparkling cider. Garnish with lime pinwheels.
